Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’ Donuts is an American global doughnut company and coffeehouse chain based in Canton, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1950 by William Rosenberg in Quincy, Massachusetts. Its logo is two D’s side by side in orange and hot pink. The company primarily competes with Starbucks, as over half the company’s business is in coffee sales, and with Krispy Kreme for doughnut sales.

Dunkin’ Donuts is known in the USA as the east coast coffee chain with Starbucks as the west coast coffee chain.

Dunkin’ Donuts since 2019 is officially known simply as ‘Dunkin’. This name change follows the direction of the company, which is now described as a ‘beverage-led company’ as opposed to simply a donut and baked goods company that sells coffee and other beverages.

Apart from in the USA, Dunkin’ Donuts have a global presence in over 30 countries in several continents including Europe, Asia, Australasia and Latin America. This makes Dunkin’ one of the largest coffee and baked good chains in the world.

Dunkin’ Donuts is a subsidiary of the parent company Dunkin Brands, which also owns the American chain Baskin-Robbins.

Dunkin’ has over 1000 employees as of 2016 and made over 1.3 billion dollars in revenue in 2018.
