Capresso

Capresso LogoCapresso markets high-end coffeemakers, espresso machines, grinders, electric water kettles and frothers. The company is owned by Jura AG of Switzerland and was founded in 1994.

Capresso is a portmanteau of the words “cappuccino” and “espresso”. The American and Swiss company was founded with the purpose of bringing high quality, European style coffee makers to the American coffee market.

As an industry leader in coffee makers and other coffee small appliances, Capresso has been responsible for many industry firsts in coffee culture. The best example of this was the first programmable conical burr grinder and coffee maker combination by Capresso. Other revolutions include redesigning existing machines to have better materials, such as stainless steel instead of glass, as well as more user friendly controls.

As part of the Jura AG franchise, Capresso has a presence in over 50 countries worldwide.

Along with other brands such as Bunn, Mr. Coffee and Keurig, Capresso is one of the most popular domestic drip coffee maker suppliers in the United States.

Capresso is also has a big presence in domestic coffee culture with its super automatic coffee makers. These espresso machines are also known as bean to cup machines, and come with a built in grinder. This allows the user to completely brew their cup of coffee, from grinding to extraction, with the touch of one button. Some of Capresso’s competitors in the super automatic section of the coffee market would be Philips (Saeco), Delonghi and Purista by Melitta.
